Spiritualism began in the United States when the fox sisters heard rapping noises in their home and eventually they found a way of communicating with spirit by asking yes and no questions and were answered with so many raps for yes and so many for no, since then a lot of mediums have demonstrated table rapping or tipping where the table is tipped, although it is not used so much these days as mediumship has progressed.
Transfiguration has been demonstrated by many mediums over the years, although it is not so popular these days, as time moves on for more modern mediumship. Transfiguration is when a spirit communicator or a sprit guide temporarily superimposes their face on that of the medium and the face can be seen to change, spirit can also change the body but this is not common and it feels like different people are sitting before you. This is a very deep connection with spirit so it should not be taken too lightly.
I have been lucky enough to see mediums performing transfiguration as well as going into deep trance, and in trance spirit can even affect and take control of the voice box so the spirit sounds more like themselves rather than the medium and some times a mixture of the two are used by spirit.
It appears under the right conditions spirit can materialise back here upon the earth, this has most often happened when a group of people normally with some mediums have gathered and they set the seen for spirit to materialise often with a red light. The most famous person to materialise was Jesus Christ when he visited his apostles after his death. And often those here can physically touch these spirits or the spirit may touch them. I myself have witnessed substances materialise on the plane from spirit through a portal between the two worlds.
Trance is a form of mediumship that allows a spirit communicator to take control of the mediums body and mind, while the medium is harmlessly pushed to one side of their mind so the spirit can communicate to others or give healing or perform some physical task. There are several levels of trance some the mediums are still partly aware some not. Again the spirit can sometimes take control of the voice box so they sound more like themselves rather than the medium. This is not classed as physical mediumship, but spirit can touch or give hands on healing through the mediums body.
This type of mediumship is not performed so much these days, but mediums that demonstrated it used to sit in a booth with a red and blue light which would be alternated and ectoplasm could be seen to come out of the nose, mouth or even ears of the medium and quite often it would take the shape of a spirit face that someone would be able to recognise.
Apports are thought to be physical objects that are brought through from the realms of spirit by spirit communicators and can be all sorts of things such as flowers, coins, jewellery etc. I know some mediums that left a flower outside of the room and shut the door and the flower found its way with the help of spirit onto the table that the mediums were sitting round, but this could have been a dematerialisation and re-materialisation.
