Crossing & Passing Over Experiences & What Happens Also OBEs & NDEs |
In this modern day medical science has improved so much that it has become possible to resuscitate and save many more individuals from near death situations and an increasing number are therefore being brought back to life, often these people are reporting having had experiences that go beyond unconsciousness and it appears many who have a NDE are having an out of body experience or may find themselves being drawn into a tunnel or portal of light. Some feel they are passing over after death then coming back to life again. These experiences are called and classed as Near Death Experiences or N.D.E.
N.D.E's. can vary considerably in the individuals experience and this example is composed of some of the most common elements. Fore example: An individual that is involved in an accident and seriously injured or may be seriously ill, may hear themselves being declared dead, this often acts as a trigger and they then find themselves moving rapidly down a tunnel which can be a variety of colours but usually is very light or dark. They often then find themselves out side of their own body looking on from above or standing close by watching what is happening around their body, which they can see and realize is lifeless. They may be watching those who are attempting to resuscitate their body, they can be quite surprised at what has transpired and realize that they must have died and this is usually excepted with a calm resignation. While they are out of body they may be aware that they still have a form and body which can feel quite different to their normal body or at times they may just feel like a conscious presence without any form.
Often while they are watching what is happening around their own deceased body, they become aware that others who themselves have passed away have come to join them, these are usually their own loved ones and their spirit guides. While out of the body most feel a little detached from it all emotionally and in themselves feel more like an observer. These visitors from spirit often express that they have been sent to help the deceased to pass over into the spirit realms. After this a being of light is sometimes seen to arrive and it said that this being of light gives off a feeling of being full of love and warmth and most feel very at ease and find the experience to be of a peaceful and pleasant nature. The deceased is often then encouraged to move away from their physical body, but there sometimes appears to be an invisible barrier that prevents them from moving too far from their physical remains. This being of Light seems to invoke an experience in the recently deceased, which is one where they see their whole life flash before their eyes in an instant playback of every event of their lifetime, which is seen in a flash and panoramic view that includes each and every event and second of their lives. There are a number of beliefs as to why this happens, but most report it not as being any kind of judgmental experience and more one to help them realize that it is time to move on into spirit or it can be a transference of memories from the physical brain to the spiritual mind.
Some individuals reach this point with the presents of spirit and others can find themselves being drawn into a light, where they can hear a voice, saying that they have to go back, many do not wish to do so and wish to remain in spirit, as they gain such a sense of peace and love emanating from the light that it draws them onward and they sometimes they resist going back to the physical body and often this message also relays that it is not yet their time to move on into spirit. A moment later they find themselves back within the mortal body and when they come round they can remember the whole experience, often later being told that their life functions had ceased and resuscitation was necessary. These individuals do sometimes confide their experiences into loved ones and friends, but often they do find it hard to tell others and express what has happened to them, especially those whom they think would be skeptical of such matters and many N.D.E's. are never reported. Those who have these experiences have seen the other side to a small extent and the realization that it exists can have profound and lasting effects on these individuals. There has been considerable research into N.D.E's. and 50% of those who have been resuscitated fit in to the typical N.D.E. category and of those interviewed 95% expressed that the experience was very real and was considerably different from a dream or hallucination, enough for them to be sure that it was genuinely real.
There are those psychologists who believe that NDE and the whole experience is an hallucination, that is caused by a breaking down of certain elements within the brain due to oxygen starvation called cerebral anoxia, however after resuscitation there has been little evidence that the brain has suffered from serious enough oxygen starvation that it would cause these hallucinations. One other theory is, de personalization, where some scientists believe that people who realize that they were so close to death, once resuscitated suffer a form of trauma, where they have an inability to except and face how close they were to death, thus resulting in a personal disorder by being informed that they had been pronounced dead, thus they construct a elaborate scenario to explain away their fears and experience of such an ordeal. But more recently more minds do appear to be opening to the fact that there might just be some truth behind what many individuals have been trying to get across to scientists for many years and that is that there is something very real beyond death and that it is definitely not an hallucination.
Those that have come to believe this might be the case are investigating and carrying out more research and speaking to far more individuals who have had NDE's. Also terminally ill patients have been weighed in several countries and the results have been that at death there appears to be a 39 gram weight loss incurred, for which there is no apparent explanation other than it being the possibility that as the soul moves out of the physical body and it becomes 39 grams lighter approximately the weight of an egg. Therefore theories have been put forward to explain this including the likelihood that the soul also has a astral body that is composed of some much finer etheric counterpart of the material body, that is somehow invisible under normal circumstances, but can project itself beyond the body as an etheric counterpart or double and manifestation of the personality. But science still does not know completely how to explain all these occurrences. Personally I do not see it as being that hard to explain if one excepts and believes there is life after death, as to proving it that comes a little harder and science basis its findings on what is provable, although at times it is happy to theorize on some circumstantial evidence. Whereas the free and open mind, finds its own theories and beliefs.
There are two main types of NDE that are experienced, which are based on peoples beliefs and they are categorized, the first being, "Perceived Near Death Experience" (PNDE) where a individual has a NDE based on their own Religious or personally held beliefs or understandings. Whereas those that have an "Unexpected Near Death Experience" (UNDE) where it comes as much more of a shock and surprise do have differing experiences, and a number who have found themselves out of the body unexpectedly have returned to their bodies much sooner than those having something close to what is expected and within their own beliefs or what they have perceived to be a possibility. In a number of cases there is a tunnel present, some can see this tunnel as one of light while others may see it as darkness, both are reported to be a pleasant experience. The dark tunnel is described as a void and a great expanse that goes into another dimension and the tunnel of light is often seen as White or Golden in colour or sometimes of many colours. No matter what type of NDE those who have reported these experiences of going through the tunnel, as being a pleasant one with a feeling of peace and acceptance.
However very few have NDE make it through the tunnel or portal to the other side and most having NDE's come rushing back just before they reach the other side of the tunnel because they have been resuscitated, and as mentioned some are told that it is not yet their time and that they must go back, but about 10% of those that go through the tunnel do briefly make it through to the other side before being pulled back within their bodies here on the earth and they report having been in a very pleasant and beautiful place of peace and that they found it to be a joyful experience, sometimes seeing iridescent colours that are not of this world and hearing tranquil music playing and meeting loved ones that have passed over. Often those who make a full recovery after a NDE feel invigorated and claim they have found new purpose and meaning to life and that their experience has brought greater meanings to life.
There are one or two things that NDE's and Astral projection or out-of-body experiences have in common, to begin with as mentioned in some NDE's the individual can experience difficulty when trying to move away from the physical body, partly this is inevitably because it is not yet their time to move on and the spirit has not yet fully given up its tether and hold on the physical body, as in OBE's there is a tether the binds the spirit and the material body together and this tether known as the silver cord or thread, which under normal circumstances allows the spirit to separate from the mortal body, but will not sever until mortal demise and even then not until life is irrecoverable, once the cord severs there is no chance of recovery or returning and it is this very cord that pulls those who are having an NDE back within their physical bodies when resuscitation takes place.
There have been many cases where individuals having an NDE have been resuscitated and been drawn back within the physical body from death, only to then fade out of life again and find themselves once again out of body, some have had multiple experiences of going in and out of body, as the resuscitation brings them back only to fail a number of times until they are stabilized.
Others that have been in ambulances and have one minute found themselves watching the event from out of body and the next second have found themselves being conscious of coming round inside the ambulance with a paramedic working to resuscitate them, only to then find themselves yet again moving out of body. When they are out they have feelings of being calm and may find if their body is being transported to a hospital, that they are being drawn quite happily along with the ambulance, sometimes floating just out side and following it with some curiosity.
Others such as sudden deaths, say in a automobile accident, may suddenly find themselves standing in the road looking down at their own body laying there in the road, again they are usually in a calm state. These individuals at times report that they were not that aware of having a body and felt more as though they were a formless being of light, others say, yes they did still have their body, but it was not in the same condition as was their physical body, which had sustained multiple injuries and that they felt free of injury and pain, feeling physically whole and at peace. Some have reported seeing loved ones coming from a light and others believe that they have seen beings of light and Angels. Others have seen those related to their personal beliefs, coming as expected from the spirit realms to help and welcome them.
In another instance a child of about 10 drowned and then found them self standing near the waters edge watching his loved ones frantically looking for him, he wondered why they could not see him, then near by, he saw his Grandmother standing there looking at him and he wondered how this could be, as she had passed over several years previously. She then came over to comfort and wait with the boy and told him not to worry, all would be well. Soon his body was found and given resuscitation and once again he found himself coming round on this side of life.
There are on occasions those that have partial NDE, these can happen for a variety of reasons of which one can be that the normal autonomic responses of the sleeping body and mind do on occasions in the very rare cases stop functioning forgetting to breathe while asleep. However although the breathing may cease and the individual may begin to suffer oxygen starvation to a level where the spirit actually departs the physical body for a brief instance, the breathing will eventually resume before death occurs in almost all cases save those who are so physically ill and close to demise and fade away in their sleep, as the experience is enough to eventually trigger alarm bells in both the sub-conscious and conscious mind and a conscious act of gasping for breath is eventually reached. These individuals do have many of the common phenomena associated to OBE's and NDE's and can at times find themselves traveling through a vortex or tunnel into a higher astral plane of existence, sometimes finding a higher level of awareness and understanding that there is some greater existence or level of awareness and understanding that is out there beyond mortal existence and can sometimes be found during these NDE's.
One more interesting case where it may be more likely to have a NDE what with the advances in modern medicine and treatments is where certain advances have been made, where it is now possible through chilling the human body by a couple of degrees to arresting a patients heart and breathing functions for a matter of hours while operating and then resuscitate them after they have been clinically dead for a matter of a few hours. It is of course not that uncommon for the odd patient that is near death and undergoing major surgery to have an NDE. However in most normal surgery the lungs are artificially resperated and the blood is oxygenated and pumped around the body so that the brain and organs do not suffer oxygen starvation, thus life is artificially supported and maintained, which allows the spirit to remain within the body. However there is absolutely no chance of this when normal life functions cease or are suspended for surgery as of course mortal death occurs, but there is no spiritual death ever and the spirit within is an exact etheric double of the material body and therefore it cannot survive within the mortal host if the life functions are stopped or suspended. Thus in every case when the life functions are completely halted to perform surgery or for any other reason the spirit is forced to move out of body, thus the individual will have a NDE but the silver cord will not sever until there is no chance of resuscitation.
In a more recent case, I believe a woman had her life functions suspended, so that she could have a fairly new and pioneering form of surgery performed on her and as soon as the surgery began she found herself hovering just behind and above the surgeons, she found it difficult to see at first until she got the hang of manoeuvring herself into a better position, where she could then see her own body being operated on. Her eyes had been covered and taped closed before surgery commenced. As she hovered there she felt calm and watched the whole operation with great interest and curiosity. After the operation when she came round she asked to see the surgeons, who had operated on her. She told them she had witnessed the whole operation, and they said, that she must be mistaken and that it was impossible that she could of and that she must of suffered from a trick of the mind or an hallucination of some kind...
She was however certain of what she had seen and commenced to give an account of what had transpired during her surgery blow for blow and word for word that had been spoken by the surgeons, including, an exact description of how the surgery had been performed and carried out, including some minor difficulties that had been encountered during the surgery and by the time she had finished recounting her story the surgeons were absolutely convinced that she had indeed witnessed the whole event, as there was no way in which she could of read or even know how this pioneering surgery was performed, unless she herself had witnessed it, let alone tell the surgeons how they had operated and what problems they had encountered. This is one case that almost without a doubt proved NDE, but there are many hardened skeptics out there who have yet to be convinced.
